Layrd

Layrd was a creative partnership with three other designers to release limited batches of unique products.

The brand explored combining old with new, re-imagining traditional origami paper folding techniques in cutting edge metal 3D printing.

Within this partnership, my role was to focus on the brand development and market segment. Inspired by the industrial and rugged surroundings of Glasgow, I focused the brand on three themes: Finnieston, Fells and Katrine, and applied these to men’s fashion accessories.

Building Brand Identity

The name ‘Layrd’ pays homage to traditional Scottish gentry, Lairds, and also to the layering process of the cutting edge metal 3D printing.

The logo then evolved, based on the hand writing of Robert Burns, another subtle nod to creative Scottish heritage.
